1. Introduction
Our website, https://naa.pt, uses cookies and other related technologies (for convenience, all technologies are referred to as “cookies”). Some are placed by third parties, but only once you have allowed them, because until then they stay blocked. This document explains how cookies are used on our website.
2. What are cookies?
A cookie is a small, simple file that is sent along with the pages of this website and stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive or on another device. The information stored may be sent back to our servers or to the servers of the relevant third parties during a subsequent visit.
3. What are scripts?
A script is a piece of program code used to make our website function properly and interactively. This code runs on our server or on your device.
4. What is a web beacon?
A web beacon (or pixel tag) is a small piece of invisible text or image on a website used to monitor traffic. To this end, various data about you is stored by means of web beacons.
5. Cookies we use
5.1 Necessary and preferences
The necessary ones make the website work and there are two: the one that stores your choice about cookies and the one that stores the proof of that choice. Preferences store choices you make yourself, such as light or dark mode or dismissing a notice. Both are exempt from consent, because they are strictly necessary for the service you asked of us when you pressed the button. The copy kept in your browser lives for up to 180 days; the record we keep on our side is kept for 36 months, as the Privacy Policy explains.
5.2 Statistics
Statistics help us understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and where people get lost, so we can keep improving the website. They are only used if you allow them. You can withdraw that consent at any time. From that point on, they are no longer collected and the cookies stored in your browser are deleted. Anything collected before then stays in those tools for the periods set out in the Privacy Policy. You can ask for it to be erased, as explained in section 8.
5.3 The specific cookies we use
For traffic analysis we use Google Analytics, with the IP address anonymised and without advertising purposes. These cookies are only activated once you accept them. If you refuse them, or if you later withdraw your consent, they are not created and any existing ones are deleted. We also use Microsoft Clarity, from Microsoft, which records how you interact with the pages (clicks, scrolling and heatmaps), in strict masking mode, the strictest it allows, in which all text is masked. The recordings show where the visitor clicked and how far down the page they scrolled. They do not show what they typed or the text on the pages. They do record which pages were visited, just as Google Analytics does. It stores the two cookies listed in the table, which serve to link the several pages of one visit into a single recording. It is subject to the same consent and is only activated once you accept it. Unlike Google Analytics, Microsoft does not process this data on our behalf. It is responsible for that processing in its own right, as explained in our Privacy Policy. On the forms we also use Turnstile, from Cloudflare, to stop automated submissions. It only loads once you start filling in the form. It places no cookies on this domain.

The “Category” column matches the purposes in the consent panel, that is, it is the switch that governs each row. We do not use marketing cookies. The table therefore has no row in that category. The «External content» purpose has no row either. It is the one that controls the Google map on the Contact page, and its cookies are set on Google’s domain, not on ours. If you do not allow it, the page shows the address and a button to load the map. If you have refused Preferences, that choice is not stored and the map loads only on that visit. The asterisk in a name (_ga_*, naa-fb-*) marks the part that varies from case to case. naa-theme, naa-mapa-ok, naa-lang-dismissed, naa-langnote-ok and naa-fb-* are not cookies. They live in the browser’s local storage, which unlike cookies is not sent with every request to the server. We do not send them anywhere, the 180 days run from when you made the choice and you can delete them at any time in your browser settings. They hold values such as light or dark, with no identifiers. The durations in this table are maximums. Some browsers delete what pages store earlier than that, such as Apple’s Safari, as a rule after seven days of use without a new visit to our site. The same goes for the other browsers on iPhone and iPad, which use Safari’s engine under the hood.
6. Consent
When you visit our website for the first time, a window appears with an explanation about cookies. There you can accept all, keep to only necessary cookies, or choose purpose by purpose. You can change your mind whenever you like, using the “Manage cookies” button in the footer of every page, and withdraw your consent as easily as you gave it. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. Refusing closes no part of the website to you and does not change the service we provide.
7. Enabling, disabling and deleting cookies
You can use your browser to delete cookies automatically or manually. You can also specify that certain cookies are not to be placed, or set your browser to notify you whenever a cookie is placed. For more information, see the Help section of your browser.
Refusing in our panel closes no part of the website. Disabling all cookies in your browser settings, on the other hand, may affect browsing in general, including here, because it becomes impossible even to store your choice about cookies. If you delete the cookies in your browser, the consent window appears again on your next visit.
8. Your rights regarding personal data
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (the GDPR), you have the right to:
- Be informed why your personal data is needed, what will happen to it and for how long it will be kept;
- Access: access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectification, erasure and restriction: correct or complete your personal data, as well as request their erasure or the restriction of processing;
- Withdrawal of consent: where you have given us consent to process your data, you have the right to withdraw it and request its deletion;
- Portability: request all your personal data and transfer it to another data controller;
- Objection: object to the processing of your data, except where there are legitimate grounds for the processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details indicated below. As for the data collected by Microsoft Clarity, Microsoft is the one responsible, so those rights are exercised with Microsoft as well. The processing of your data beyond cookies is described in our Privacy Policy and the rules for using the site are set out in the Terms of Use. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) (the national data protection authority) at www.cnpd.pt.
